Governor signs disaster proclaimation

Four Iowa counties are now under a disaster proclamation after severe storms caused damage. Governor Branstad Wednesday put Appanoose, Muscatine, Scott, and Wayne counties under the proclamation. Branstad and other state officials toured damage in Seymour. Meantime, the National Weather Service now says at least 10 tornadoes roared through south-central and eastern Iowa earlier this week.  The weather service Tuesday confirmed six tornadoes and later upgraded the number, as more reports from Monday night's storms were reviewed.  The tornado total could rise as storm teams are still in the field assessing damage.  School buses and two gymnasiums in Seymour suffered extensive damage as an EF-2 was reportedly on the ground there for over ten minutes.  Centerville and Muscatine were also hit hard by tornadoes confirmed as EF-2.
