Lawmakers debate voter ID law

The Iowa House went back and forth on a voter ID bill pushed by one of the state's top officials.  Democrats Wednesday blasted Secretary of State Paul Pate's bill as discriminatory and a solution looking for a problem.  Republicans said voter fraud does happen and this bill would make elections more fair.  The house adjourned for the night without voting on the plan that calls for people to show either a driver's license, military ID, or passport in order to vote.  A free ID would be issued to any voter who doesn't currently have one.
