Auburn Picks ISU's Leath As President

ISU president Steven Leath has been named president of the Auburn University. The Auburn board of trustees voted Monday morning to name Leath the school's 19th president. No start date has been announced. Leath has been president at Iowa State since since 2012 but has recently come under criticism after an audit revealed Leath piloted a university-owned airplane for personal purposes, including flight training, trips to the Mayo Clinic and to his home in North Carolina. The audit was triggered by revelations Leath damaged one of the school's planes when he made a hard landing in 2015. In February, the Story County Attorney declined to file charges against Leath, saying there was no probable cause that he violated Iowa law.
