Honoring a fallen Ames firefighter

More than 800 people packed Ames City Auditorium Thursday to honor an Ames firefighter, who died last week. Family, friends, co-workers, and members of the community paid respects to Steve Buser, 51, who died last Friday at Fire Station 2. He returned from a call the previous evening, and was found unresponsive in the station's exercise room the next morning. During the service, Ames Fire Chief Shawn Bayouth says Buser had responded to over 3,000 incidents and logged more than 20,000 hours on duty during a 17-year career.
