Ames City Council approves traffic safety project

After months of delay, the Ames City Council approved a Duff Ave. safety project that will see the installation of a new traffic signal an raised median.  Jim Howe has owned a welding and metal fabrication business in the area for 30 years. He told the council the median will block large trucks from entering his business.  At-large Council Member Bronwyn Beatty-Hansen was sympathetic to Howe's plight, voting against the plan.  1st Ward Council Member Gloria Betcher also voted no. The city wants to have the project completed in October.
