Iowa sees heat warnings, advisories

The entire southern tier of counties in Iowa is under an excessive heat warning.  It runs through 8:00 p.m. Saturday.  Temperatures will range from 100 to 110 degrees by the early afternoon.  Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for parts of western and central Iowa, where the heat will continue into the overnight hours.  Cooling centers are open or opening across the state.
