On the first day of classes in the Ames School District, it's top administrator says he's cautiously optimistic there will be more students in classrooms this year than last year. Superintendent Tim Taylor the transient nature of some parents connected to Iowa State University means the district often won't know until after the first few days of school who's in the district and who isn't. Taylor also says the district filled it's last teaching vacancy last Friday.
