Campbell, 20 Cyclones Earn Big 12 Honors

The Iowa State football team is raking in the Big 12 postseason accolades. Cyclones coach Matt Campbell is the league's coach of the year while 20 of his players have earned all-confernce honors. Campbell led the Cyclones to five Big 12 wins, tying a school record, and a 7-5 overall record, becoming bowl-eligilble for the first time since 2012. Campbell joins Johnny Majors, Earl Bruce and Dan McCarney as winners of conference coach of the year at ISU. Meanwhile, three Cyclones were named first-team All-Big 12: Senior receiver Allen Lazard, sophomore running back David Montgomery and Senior safety Kamari Cotton-Moya. Senior linebacker/quarterback Joel Lanning, senior defensive end J.D. Waggoner, senior offensive lineman Jake Campos, junior cornerback Brian Peavy and freshman tight end Chase Allen were named to the second team. Twelve other Cyclones were honorable mention selections, including quarterback Kyle Kempt, a senior walk-on who led ISU to wins against top-five foes Oklahoma and TCU.
