State budget closer to reality

Iowa lawmakers are a step closer to cutting the state budget.  The house passed a bill Tuesday night that cuts more than $35 million from the budget that ends in late June.  Passage came after House and Senate Republicans agreed to a budget deal that includes $11 million in cuts to the Iowa Board of Regents.  Only Iowa State and Iowa would see the effects of cuts made to the Regent schools. The bill now goes to the Senate.
