No applicants for Ames School Board opening

With a Friday application deadline approaching to fill a vacancy on the Ames School Board, the district has no submissions. As of Monday morning, no one's expressed an interest in replacing former director Rodney Briggs, who resigned earlier this month. State law says the school board has until June 1st to appoint a new member. If no appointment's made, the district will be forced to hold a special election, at a cost of $15,000.  The board wanted to hold a public forum for prospective candidates during it's meeting next Monday, with a possible appointment that night.  The district has appilcation materials on it's website and at the business office.
