Don't make an Ash of Yourself

Fire safety should be top of mind this time of year and yet when you hear the cause of most fires it is a matter of negligence. Most deaths are the result of smoke inhalation rather than the flames themselves. I have emphasized for years the least you can do is discuss the plan of evacuation with all who reside in your home. For younger children it's a good idea to have an actual fire drill to emphasize the safest routes and guide them to the family safety zone for a head count. Many peoples lives have been lost thinking someone or pet is still in the house, if possible leave those rescues to the professionals. If you have a hydrant near your house take a few minutes to clear it of snowfall to make it accessible if needed. Be aware of the hazards around your home and plan accordingly, please don't make an ash of yourself.

Local weather reports and road conditions are an important part of your day, that's why 1430 KASI reports them several times an hour as well as closings and cancellations.
