Fireworks in the state of Iowa are a mixed bag. While they may be purchased throughout the state some cities have ordinances that will not allow them to be used. I know that may be confusing but the reasons are logical, one particular one stands out. With so many of our troops returning home suffering from PTSD the sharp report of an explosive firework could cause an episode. This may also cause an adverse reaction in pets and with the drought affecting much of Iowa it also presents the danger of setting off a fire. Ordinance or not I have already heard many late night bangs and expect many more, it's the way it has always been and the actual chance of being caught is nearly none existent. Celebrate the 4th responsibly but beware as there are some people equipped with a short fuse for tolerating them.
