The "Dave Sprau" curse was certainly in full effect in the first half of Iowa State's Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal game against Oklahoma Thursday. The Cyclones made just one three-pointer on 12 attempts in the first 20 minutes and their defense looked just as lost. Oh but the Cyclones rallied in the second half, carried almost entirely by Will Clyburn and Melvin Ejim. Clyburn's seven straight points was part of a 12-0 Cyclones run that gave ISU the lead after Ejim busted his tail in every way to keep the Cyclones afloat. Chris Babb stepped up with a clutch three to help salt th egame away and ISU could party like it's 2005, the last time they won a Big 12 tourney game and, coincidently, the last Big 12 tourney before I became sports director for this very station. You'd better believe I'm glad to get that monkey off my back and you'd better believe I'll have a thing or two to say to ol' Mel in the morning on tomorrow's show.
