Ballard scored twice in the 5th inning, one on a safety squeeze, to edge Ames 2-1 Wednesday night. The Bombers struck first in the fifth when Brooke Mallon's groundout scored Ellie Godwin from third base. Then Grace Hall put down a bunt that allowed Sydney Fisher to slide home. Ames got their only run in the 5th as well. Maddie Lynch scored on a one out double by Kate Crow, who finished with three hits. Starter Kayla Bruns got the win for Ballard, striking out 5, as the Bombers improve to 13-6. Ames pitcher Hunter Stohlmeyer took the loss despite 7 k's as Ames drops to 10-10.
