An unearned run in the bottom of the 7th inning gave the Ballard softball team a win in the Class 3A semifinals and a trip to the state tittle game. The Bombers downed Bondurant-Farrar 1-0 Thursday afternoon when pitcher Kenzie Ihle singled home pinch-runner Elvis Calvert. Calvert was running for Katie Ahrenholtz, who reached on an error to open the inning. Ihle was the winning pitcher, tossing a complete-game shutout, scattering 5 hits and walking none, while striking out 5. Ballard (34-9) will face Solon (38-6) Friday afternoon at 2:30 for the state championship.
