The Ballard softball team has won the 3A state championship beating Solon, 5-4 in today's final in Ft. Dodge. Pitcher Kenzie Ihle hit 2 home runs, including the go-ahead 3-run shot in the 6th. She also hit a solo homer in the 2nd inning. Grace Hall also homered for the Bombers, knocking out a solo shot in the 4th. Ihle got the win as well, pitching all 7 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 9 hits, walking 1 and striking out 9. Ballard clinched the win when a Solon baserunner was thrown out at home plate trying to score on an error.
