Another near Senior Moment this morning. I went to the Lincoln Center Hy Vee to pick up the days groceries at about 6:30 am. When I went to pay I discovered that I had left my wallet in my other coat (this ploy works at restaurants with friends but not grocery stores) as I was explaining to the cashier my dilemna and could run home and be back in 5 minutes (where in Ames is this not possible?) a y...
oung man who works at the bakery and that I befriended a couple of summers while umpiring (yes umpires can make friends) stepped over and ran his debit card through paying for my groceries. He insisted that I needn't pay him back because he knew I would do the same for him then he went back to work. I immediately drove over to my bank on Lincolnway pulled up to the ATM and reached for my bankcard which was still in my other coat. I then proceded home got the cash and took it back to repay him, he still declined but I eventually got him to take it. Thank You WES you once again remind me why I love the people and community that surrounds me...I love you L.A. Lovely Ames.
