After graduation life became an adventure, including some college, lots of travel and just learning to enjoy life. My education has been diversified to say the least attending several colleges and universities a few courses at a time and ending my formal education at Iowa State.
My occupations have been many, with the last 35 years spent in broadcasting
in one form or another. I have many things I love, my wife Chris, my daughter
Paula and my son Shad. I love also love Ames and Iowa. What I am and what I will
be is always grateful to the people and things that have surrounded my life in
this great part of the country we live in. The are a lot of things I've left out
but I'm sure we'll share more as you continue to visit this site.
While growing up I remember my parents constantly talking about turning 65 and retiring with Social Security so in my mind that age became a landmark goal for me. Other goals were 5 to go to school, 13 to be a teenager, 14 to get my driving permit, 16 to get my license and 21 to be a full fledged "mature?" adult. Other ages held special meanings, marriage, births etc., 65 will have come and gone tommorrow and at the age of 66 I will begin Social Security but won't begin retirement, I'm just not ready. I love what I do and the opportunities it affords me to meet and help other people, to spend some time each morning with friends via the airwaves. I've often said I don't expect to retire from radio but radio may someday retire me, here's to many more years together and as for Social Security I promise not to spend it all in one place.
